In the midst of Aus Music Month, Ziggy Alberts has today released ‘Singing For Country’; an ode to the natural beauty and multicultural way of life found in Australia. ‘Singing For Country’ follows ‘New Love’, ‘Outlaw’ and ‘Where Did The Love Go?’ as the latest taste from Ziggy’s upcoming seventh studio album ‘New Love’, out February 21.

Singing For Country’ is a standout moment on the singer/songwriters upcoming LP; stripped right back with just a piano accompanying Ziggy’s vocals, the track also features the sounds of Kookaburras and other native birds throughout the track - creating a wide, natural sounding atmosphere that complements Ziggy’s vocal performance beautifully.

Written as a love letter to his home country, ‘Singing For Country’ paints a stunning picture of the land and people that call Australia home.

“I wrote ‘Singing For Country’ along the Mid-North Coast of Australia. It’s a song about what it means to be Australian, to love this land and our planet. For me, being Australian is about embracing a unique mix of cultures on this sunburnt land.

“This song was my way of celebrating what and how it feels to be Australian. I performed this song across my tour in Europe, UK and North America and despite it being about my love for Australia, people really connected to it. I think that for anyone who loves the natural beauty of their homeland will relate and feel camaraderie in this too. It speaks to the core reason I write songs; to sing and celebrate people and nature.”

Following a huge tour across the globe over the last few months, which has included sold out shows across Europe, the US, South America and Asia - Ziggy found an overwhelming feeling of gratitude as he returned home, and felt the need to highlight the track even though it wasn’t initially intended as a single for the upcoming album.

“After being on tour all year, there’s nothing quite like the feeling of coming home. You don’t realise how much you love a place until you’re back, breathing it in again. There’s something raw and grounding about being back on home soil, smelling the bottlebrush, and returning to the ocean. Originally, this song was just going to be part of the album, but when I got back home, that visceral feeling reminded me how important it was to share it as a single ahead of summer. I’m grateful my team helped make it happen.”

2024 has been a busy year for Ziggy, with the release of stunning music in singles ‘Outlaw’, ‘Where Does The Love Go?’ and ‘New Love’, as well as his second book of published poetry, sun memos. The releases of 'Where Does The Love Go', ‘Outlaw’ and ‘New Love’ alone have drawn numbers on streaming platforms; ‘Where Does The Love Go’ has accrued over 1 million streams, and ‘Outlaw’ over 2.4 million streams across DSPs, while ‘New Love’ currently sits at 4.9 million streams across DSPs and counting. Altogether, Ziggy’s catalogue has amassed over a billion streams worldwide. Additionally, the music has been receiving strong airplay across Australian and international markets, adding to the excitement building up to this New Love era.

To celebrate the release of ‘New Love’ early next year, Ziggy will be hitting the road on his first regional tour in over 7 years - with 11 dates across Western Australia, Queensland, New South Wales, ACT & Victoria.
